Goat Isle Soap Branding and Photography

I partnered with Carpenter's Family Farm, located in Brockport, NY, to develop a logo, packaging, marketing materials and product photography for their extensive line of Goat Isle Soap and raw goat's milk products. This has been such a fun brand to work with! I've had the opportunity to visit the farm and see the animals that they care for, as well as use many of their amazing soaps. There are over 30 varieties! And so many beautiful scents and combinations. Visit their website to learn more. They will be at many festivals and shows this year, for those who are local.

This is one of the posters designed for a craft show event. I really enjoy being able to support a brand through multiple marketing platforms. Especially having the opportunity to style and photograph their soaps and products for the website and social media. I love this part! Here are some of the images.

I was able to incorporate the logo onto a few of the images and create headers and larger scale social media graphics.

Follow Goat Isle Soap on Instagram if you'd like to know about upcoming events, how to order, and see their adorable goats and farm animals. Look for Carpenter's Family Farm on Facebook.

Design and Consulting for ABLE

Earlier this year, I started working with ABLE, a new client and lifestyle company committed to helping people through the benefits of nutritional ketosis. I worked with them to provide design and consulting to help launch their new products and showcase their brand. I was thrilled to work with this startup company that grew from the vision of three friends, one of whom I have known since high school.

I really enjoyed working on a variety of pieces and providing input on various levels, such as:

Refining their new logo
Box kit packaging labels
Welcome kit letter
Ketosis brochure
Coupon card
Facebook ad
Water bottle branding
Supplement packaging concepts
T-shirt consulting
Web design consulting

Graphic design and packaging have been my primary focus for over a decade, but I also have experience with marketing and unique applications. I love working with new clients, especially wonderful ones like the ABLE team.

We also got to collaborate with another friend of mine and talented photographer, Brette-Ashley, to capture their product photos and head shots. It's so great when I get to work with friends who also run their own business.

ExNatura Makeup Remover

IMG: © D'Angelo Photo

It is such a compliment and an honor when I gain a new client from another client’s referral. Especially when it’s a new startup business in my hometown of Rochester, New York. I began working with the owner and creator of ExNatura Products earlier this year, to design a logo and packaging for the first in a new line of plant-based cosmetic products.

As a designer, I was excited to work on this project, because the beauty and cosmetic industry has always appealed to me. I'm also a makeup consumer and part of the target audience for this powerful new remover. I couldn’t wait to try ExNatura for myself! 100% plant-based ingredients make this makeup remover safe and gentle, and best of all, it’s effective, without any parabens, carcinogens, toxins or fragrances. How great is that? Perfect for people with allergies and sensitive skin.

I'm thrilled with the logo and packaging and I also helped select the bottle. The look communicates a product that is upscale, on-trend, pure, clean, effective and free from harmful ingredients.

ExNatura officially launched this week and is currently available for purchase online at ExNaturaProducts.com You can also look for ExNatura Products on Facebook an Instagram.

Since web design with e-commerce isn’t currently within my wheelhouse, we teamed up with Matt D’Angelo, the creative force behind D’Angelo design. He provided strategy, creative direction, photography, web and social media design, to beautifully showcase and launch ExNatura into the marketplace.

Sohl Design Dot Com

It's official! My professional website, SohlDesign.com, is live and open for business. I offer custom design solutions and art direction for a variety of projects.

The truth is, my site has been up and running for a while, I've just been working on it for so long, and tweaking and re-tweaking everything, that I never made a formal announcement. Plus, as a designer, I find it very intimidating to publish and advertise my own work. I'm probably my own worst critic, but I have such a hard time letting things go until they're "absolutely perfect" in my mind.

Running my own design business and freelancing has long been a dream of mine. One that I'm so excited to see starting to come true. I would love for you to view my work. With over ten years of experience, I specialize in a variety of print and marketing materials, including, but not limited to:

Packaging (food and non-food)
Logos / Branding
Business Collateral Materials (business cards, pens, brochures, direct mail + more)
Wedding and Event Invitations
Art Direction for Photography
Food Styling

If you, or someone you know, has a design project coming up, I would be happy to start a conversation and explore working together. Please visit SohlDesign.com for details and to contact me directly via email.

I look forward to working with you!

Wrap it Up!

Christmas is mere days away. Are your gifts wrapped? Are they wrapped with style? Do you like wrapping presents as much as I do? I think I might like wrapping presents even more than picking out presents. It's packaging people. And you get to make it with your own two hands. And lots of Scotch tape.

This year I went with a simple red and white candy cane wrapping paper.

I was inspired by some wrapping ideas I saw on Pinterest. I was "Pinspired." I'm going to start using that. Ha! These doilies just look so cute and charming!

So do these strings and various embellishments.

I had a giant spool of white cotton string and a few large doilies lying around. Put them together and you have jazzed up gift wrap!

Write the recipients name on the doily or attach a tag to the string. It's not to late to impress your family and friends with pretty packaging. Presentation is everything. Even if it does end up in the trash in 3.2 seconds. Happy wrapping! Or, feel free to hire me if you'd like me to gift wrap for you!
