Rainy Day Puddle Jumping
It's a rainy stay-at-home Columbus Day, so we decided it would be fun to jump in the giant puddle that forms on our driveway. By "we", I mean Marshall. He did all the puddle jumping, not me. He absolutely loved it! I just smiled as I watched him run back and forth, over and over, as he asked me to say, "Ready, set, go!". Such reckless abandon, courage and pure fun. He didn't hesitate or think twice about getting his shoes wet, or what he was wearing or how messy he'd be after. He just went for it! Made me wish I had that kind of courage and confidence. Lately, I've been feeling anything but.
Our second baby boy is scheduled to arrive November 30, just a short 8 weeks away. Eeee! I can't hardly wrap my head around the fact that there will be a precious new life joining our family that we get to take home and love. I am so excited and so anxious at the same time. I know life is about to change in a huge way and I just don't know what it will be like to be a mom of two boys, or how I will split my time and attention between caring for a newborn babe and a very active 2.5 year old. But, ready or not, God has chosen us for this amazing gift of life and the blessing of raising a family, which is an answer to our prayers. It's time to jump in with both feet. And as a sweet friend reminded me today, we love a good God who holds us in the palm of His hand, and calls us not to fear.
